Sandra

Service Panel Manager

Sandra, originally from Clapham, South London, has worked with and for children and their families as a qualified social worker via Greenwich University since 2002.  Since qualification, they have worked as a social worker, senior practitioner, practice supervisor, and team manager whilst continuing to undertake further academic studies, which have led to their recognised qualifications in management, mentoring, coaching, criminology, and psychology.

Sandra’s pre- and post-qualification roles have allowed them to work with children, young people, and their adults within various settings, including young offender institutes, prisons, parent and child units, foster placements, and family homes. They have worked with all to assess their needs, alongside any risks, all the while seeking to ‘make a difference’ and involve each child/adult in their plan so they recognise that they can make informed and supported changes, should they wish to.

They have honed their abilities to listen, observe, guide, mentor, and coach others.  Such skills have been used when operating as a practice educator for present-day social work students, as well as when they have worked with and for teams they have managed in the past. Sandra believes this is a defined area of their expertise, and all of this lends itself to their current Service Panel Manager role for Advanced Child Care Associates.

When Sandra isn’t working, they see mainstream theatre shows. Sandra enjoys volunteering/performing at their local amateur theatre, food bank, and park-run events.

Amanda

Quality Panel Manager

Amanda has twenty-one year’s post qualifying experience. For the majority of her practice, she has worked within child protection, initially as a social worker and thereafter for a period of eight years as a Children’s Guardian. In 2014, Amanda decided to leave CAFCASS. Thereafter for a brief period of time she worked as an Independent Reviewing Officer whilst starting to take work on an independent basis. After approximately six months she had enough work to become an Independent Social Worker on a full-time basis via Advanced CCA where she remained until February of this Year. Amanda has also intermittently worked at Manchester Metropolitan University for a period of five years as an associate lecturer. She taught social policy and the construction of childhood on a Child and Youth degree course.

Amanda made the decision to apply for the post as Training and Quality Assurance Manager as she is passionate about the quality of assessments produced by Advanced ACCA as these assessments assist in improving outcomes for children. She is also keen to promote and develop the training required for ISW’s to ensure that they are able to provide good quality assessments. She recognises the importance of sharing knowledge and creating good levels of communication between management and the ISW panel.

Amanda is looking forward to working with the team to ensure that Advanced CCA continue to produce high quality assessments. She is also keen to support the business in respect of offering new products which in turn will also support and promote better outcomes for children and young people.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys walking her dogs, going to yoga and spending time with friends and family.
